Getting started
- Complete onboarding and grant camera permission (required for metering)
- Select your camera body: Camera tab → brand → series → model
- Select your lens: Lens tab → search or browse compatible lenses
- Open Meter tab for live preview and EV reading
Reading the meter
- EV is calculated from live iPhone camera frames by LuminanceEngine
- ISO, shutter, and aperture controls reflect your selected gear limits
- Histogram and mini waveform show scene brightness distribution
- Apply ND/CPL filters in meter settings — strength affects calculations
- Flash metering available for flash exposure readings
- Calibrate offsets via MeterCalibrationStore if needed
Pro features
- Subscribe via Settings → Upgrade to Pro (StoreKit 2 — price shown by Apple in the App Store)
- CloudKit sync requires Pro entitlement and iCloud sign-in
- AI advisors require network connection to Cloudflare Worker
- Camera Output requires Bluetooth permission for BLE send
Apple Watch
Install PhotoMeterPro on Apple Watch. It displays ISO, shutter, and aperture synced from iPhone. Use Digital Crown to send adjustments back. iPhone remains the source of truth for all calculations.
Troubleshooting
- No meter reading: check camera permission in iOS Settings
- AI advisor fails: check network; rate limit is 30 req/min per IP
- Cloud sync fails: verify Pro subscription and iCloud account
